Don’t Be Daunted By Hospital Negligence Claims

by Author on June 25, 2010

The vast majority of the time we receive excellent care and treatment if we fall ill. There are unfortunately some occasions when health care staff provide care which for one of several possible reasons falls below the level that should be expected of a competent professional and some patients are left unwell or injured following this negligence. Making hospital negligence claims is very common amongst these patients.

Because the NHS is such a massive organisation, people find themselves daunted at the prospect of making hospital negligence claims against it. Ensuring that the solicitor you use has plenty of experience in hospital negligence claims is therefore a good idea. Hiring a good solicitor is the only way to ensure your chances of success. That isn’t to say that victims of hospital negligence should be put off claiming: a good solicitor will be able to take on much of the stress of the case, allowing you to recover in your own time.

Some patients feel guilty about making hospital negligence claims. Some people even believe that claimants are somehow robbing the NHS. However, there is a special body within the NHS which deals with the claims and for many of these patients, making a claim is their only financial lifeline now that they have been left with large care bills and unable to work.

No patient should be made to feel guilty about making hospital negligence claims if they feel it is necessary. Every patient has the right to be diagnosed correctly and in a timely manner, properly treated and to leave the care of the NHS in better health, not worse, because in 21st century Britain, proper healthcare is not a luxury.
